Limestone-gypsum flue gas desulfurization wet process (FGD) is currently the world’s most mature and widely used desulfurization process. Its desulfurization medium is limestone powder. Therefore, the preparation of limestone powder becomes a desulfurization method for thermal power plants and steel plants to improve desulfurization efficiency prerequisites.


Limestone-gypsum flue gas desulfurization process requires limestone powder with a particle size of 250 mesh or 325 mesh (45μm), and 325 mesh limestone powder has a better desulfurization effect. To prepare such fine limestone powder, basically the mill mainly adopts several schemes: European type grinding mill, vertical mill, ball mill and pendulum mill. In recent years, with the increasing requirements for limestone powder fineness and the need for energy saving and emission reduction, ball mills and pendulum mills have gradually been eliminated. More and more power plants have adopted European type grinding mills and vertical mills to prepare limestone powder for flue gas desulfurization program.

The European type grinding mill is an upgraded product of a new generation of raymond mill. Compared with the traditional pendulum raymond mill, the European type grinding mill has applied many new technologies such as integrated bevel gear transmission and increased grinding roller linkage. The output has been greatly improved. The 250 mesh or 325 mesh desulfurized limestone powder can have an output of 5-55 tons per hour.

Vertical mill is also one of the commonly used machines for preparing desulphurized limestone powder. Compared with the European type grinding mill, its output is larger, with an hourly output of up to 80 tons. Customers can choose according to their actual production needs.

Compared with ball mills, as the current mainstream equipment for desulfurization limestone pulverization, European type grinding mills and vertical mills not only have large output, but also have a much lower unit energy consumption than ball mills. The fineness of the finished product is more uniform, which can better meet the needs of powder for desulfurization projects and submit desulfurization efficiency.
